7 Months Already!

The 7 month mark is upon us, and this little human is getting more incredibly all the time.
He’s started eating solid food. We’re introducing a new food every week as per pediatrician recommendations as to keep our eyes open for allergic reactions. In order of what he’s been eating, we have;
  • Rice gruel
  • Carrots
  • Spinach
  • Pumpkin
The pumpkin is a bit sweet, so he seems to dig it.
He’s been making weird raspberries with his mouth for a while. He seems to enjoy it, and every once in a while he does it for a few minutes while completely saturating his chin, neck, and clothing in spit.
Leo digs baths now. We keep repeating words and hoping that he will react to them eventually, and “bath” is one of those words. Other ones are “up”, “down”, “food”, “pull”, “push”, “hi”, “bye”, and “Leo”. I think the only one he reacts to is “up”, and he barely shows any reaction aside from sticking his arms out in anticipation of being picked up.
He’s still not having a fun time when he’s tired. His main issue seems to be that he hates being on his back, so he rolls over, but has no concept of how to turn his head while in the prone position. He locks up until he gets tired of supporting his head, smashes it into the blankets or floor, and then jerks it up again, all while freaking out.
Him being tired and unable to relax is like someone having a headache and continually smashing their head into walls as the only means of alleviating it. “Just close your eyes, Leo”. “Naw, I’d rather smash and grind my face all over the place, and only fall asleep if you are holding perfectly upright and continually bouncing around.”
He’s babbling a lot now, and it’s awesome to hear him making all sorts of new sounds. He can sort of manage “ma” and the raspberries with regularity. He also does a lot of breathy “hai”s and “ha”s. The new sounds are “da” and precursors to the letter ‘F’.
